How it all started
Create4Focus is an organization founded by Lizzie Cook, a Girl Scout Senior from Southeastern Michigan, as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project – the highest award a Girl Scout can receive. She is passionate about helping teens with ADHD through creative activities.

Our story
The founder of Create 4 Focus, Lizzie Cook, has battled with ADHD all of her life. She wanted to help other teens with ADHD, so she researched ways to help teens increase focus and reduce anxiety without relying on pharmaceuticals. She found that engaging in creative activities is a natural way to manage ADHD. As an aspiring artist and frequent doodler, she wanted to spread the word on what works for her – engaging in art!
Our approach
Our approach is to provide a 3 three part program to manage ADHD – Create, Connect and Learn.
CREATE – Our website contains videos of creative activities that teens can do to manage their ADHD. Some of the activities can be done easily with minimal supplies. Others are more involved activities that may require a trip to the craft store. Our goal is to provide easy access to quick activities that can be performed during a break at school or work as well as more involved activities for when teens have more time.
CONNECT – Our website contains an area where teens with ADHD can connect online and share stories, tips or just vent! Interactions can be anonymous or you can provide your name. It is a judgement-free zone, so feel free to be honest with your experiences as others may benefit from your words.
LEARN – There is quite a bit of research on the power of creative activities to help manage ADHD. Take a moment to learn about the science behind ADHD and art therapy.

“Art making is stimulating for the brain, which is important for people with ADHD because stimulation increases the uptake of dopamine and helps them to stay focused.”
